LGO member goes for gold
One of our youngest members, euphonium player Charlotte White, has recently been working very hard towards achieving a Gold Arts Award. Charlotte tells the story behind the her final submitted image:
"These photos were taken as part of a Gold Arts Award where the Principal Art from studied had to be merged with another art form.
Photos were taken of members of the Orchestra playing, concentrating on their hands.
The photos were then cropped to show the images wanted.
The individual instruments were then broadly grouped into the different sections of the Orchestra.
Finally the instruments were merged to form the main photo.
This is meant to depic the way that hands work to help produce the sound, then how all the instruments work together, guided by the conductor, to make music. The complexity of a rehearsal comes through this, also the way musicians have to cooperate and work together as one body if the music is to be meaningful."
